We explore NumPy and Pandas – the two libraries that allow Python to handle massive amounts of data. Pandas’ data frames form the foundation of machine learning in Python.

• Understand emerging technologies such as data science, machine learning and internet of things, and how they can address industry needs.
• Build your own business ideas incorporating emerging tech.
• Familiarize yourself with the go-to software and hardware tools of the industry.
• Build your own projects motivated by real-world needs.
• Become proficient in learning these technologies more in-depth on your own.

The potential project for this session will be based on code software that stores and sorts business data.


About the Instructor:
Dr. Muhammad A. Khan holds a PhD degree in mathematics from the University of Calgary. He has more than 10 years of experience teaching STEM courses at universities around the world and has won teaching excellence awards from the University of Calgary and the University of Lethbridge. Dr. Khan’s research lies at the interface of optimization, computer algorithms and data science, and has been generously funded by provincial and federal funding bodies. In particular, he has more than 35 research publications in discrete optimization, network analysis and graph theory, blockchain technology, software engineering and data analytics. Dr. Khan was formerly a Vanier, Killam and Alberta Innovates scholar and an assistant professor at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Lethbridge. He co-organized the BCHack 2019 blockchain workshops and hackathon in Lethbridge, led various blockchain initiatives at the U of L and specializes in building bridges between academia and industry. Since July 2019, he is the Vice President - Technology at InBridge Inc working on building business solutions based on traditional and emerging tech.
