How Do I Assess My HR Needs?

Now that you’ve spent time building and validating your business idea and understanding the core 9 pillars of the Business Model Canvas, you’ll want to start planning a deeper dive into specific areas like HR planning. These areas will further inform your pillars enabling you to be prepared for the full scope of getting your business idea up and running. This session will provide you with the fundamental considerations for scoping your HR plan, assessing your needs, and some early stage hiring strategies. You will also spend time learning about developing unique principles that fit your vision for people & culture and how that can be developed into a positive and productive team environment. Through touching on best practices, policy enactment, common law, regulation and legislation, you’ll receive a well-rounded look at the ins and outs of HR principles and recruiting essentials. We’ll help you hone your expectations so that you can move forward with the knowledge to construct a well-considered HR plan.

Session activities and materials:
• Assess Your Human Resources Needs
• Understand Human Resources Principles and Best Practices
• Develop your Human Resource Plan
• Expand on 5 BMC pillars – Key Activities, Key Resources, Key Partners, Channels, and Customer Relationships
• Homework – assigned for class review in Week 3
